Details Review

Design and build:

Klipsch RP-600M is a mid-sized bookshelf speaker that has a scratch resistant MDF body. It is designed to eliminate vibration and distortion. It is available in multiple color options. Use the acoustically transparent magnetic grille to cover the drivers. You will need a speaker stand to place them or you can also place them on a shelf or tabletop. The rubber feet under the speaker allow it to stay firm in one position while ensuring it does not damage the surface.

Klipsch RP-600M is a bookshelf speaker that has 1” tweeter and 6.5” woofer. It has the Klipsch patented horn-loaded tweeter that delivers wider dispersion and detailed high ends. Sound accuracy and focus is amazing. It is directly exactly at the user. Users might be afraid of Klipsch being too attacking or harsh, but they have improved the sound over the years. This Hybrid Tractrix Horn will minimize distortion and resonance while ensuring they are not too bright.

For deep lows, the RP-600M has a 6.5” woofer that is lightweight and works with high efficiency. While the bass is not room shaking, it is clean and articulate. To improve the bass the speaker has a rear firing bass port. In terms of placement, place the speakers 6-15’ apart and the user to speaker distance should be 1-1.5x the speaker-to-speaker distance.

If you are using them as a part of home theater, then the rear setup should be 5-7’ from the floor. With slight differences in specs and sound, the upgraded version of the Klipsch RP-600M is the RP-600M II. This upgraded model improves in terms of driver design like tweeter and overall, the sound improves. It has linear bass and better power handling.

Use case:

Klipsch RP-600M can handle different types of music genre including pop, rock, jazz, blues, and classical. Along with music, the speaker can handle movies quite well. It has a powerful soundstage and loud vocals.

Compatible device:

Pair it with other speakers like Klipsch center channel RP-600C, Dolby atmos speaker RP-500SA, and powered subwoofers Klipsch SW12/ SPL-100. For a matching amp or receiver, have a look at our examples: Audiolab 6000A Play, Cambridge AXR85, Marantz Model 40n, Decware Zen Amp, Cambridge Audio CXA61, Denon DRA-800, etc.

It has a pair of binding posts that you can use for bi-wiring and bi-amping connection with your desired amp. While there are controversies on whether these connection variations will improve the sound, you can definitely give it a try.

The RP-600M bookshelf speaker is available at a reasonable price range. This gives you the flexibility to spend after a subwoofer and amplifier.

Klipsch RP-600M vs RP-600M II, which one should you choose?

Klipsch RP-600M is an excellent speaker available at an affordable price. If you purchase the RP-600M, you will not miss out ‘a lot’ so you can definitely choose this over the RP-600M II. Or, if you already own an RP-600M, there is no need to upgrade to the RP-600M II. However, if you want the latest model, then RP-600M II is good for you.

How to connect a subwoofer with the Klipsch RP-600M bookshelf speakers?

Once you have chosen a matching amplifier or receiver, you can connect the subwoofer into the sub out port of the receiver. Then connect the RP-600M to the front L/R ports of the receiver and you are good to go. It is not mandatory to choose sub from the same brand, you can look for other subwoofers like SVS PB-2000, etc.
