Details Review

Klipsch RP-280F is a large tower speaker made of MDF. The build quality is good and feels durable. Magnetic grilles are included so you can either show-off or cover them up. It comes with rubber and spike feet. If you have tile or hardwood floor, use the rubber feet. For carpeted floor, use the spikes.

It is recommended to use any one of the given feet with your speaker as they will increase stability and eliminate any vibration. The speaker is designed to minimize reflections and coloration. It is available in different color option so choose one that suits your room décor.

The RP-280F is a pair of floorstanding standing speakers that belong to the Klipsch Refernce Premiere series. They are the largest speaker in the series. Hybrid Tractrix horn in the tweeter ensure crystal clear highs. It is responsible of producing broader sweet spot and clearer sound quality. It has balanced and warm mids and produces sound close to the original track.

While listening to music, you will find the speaker can produce each instrumental sound with clarity. It can handle wide range of music genre including jazz, R&B, some heavy metal, classical music, etc. The Tractrix port on the back side of the speaker increases the efficiency of the bass response making them more powerful. Two 8” woofers ensure the low-ends are deeper and packs a punch.

Driver material are chosen very cautiously to enhance the accuracy of the sound. The speaker can get loud and doesn’t over-burden the amplifier. It can be used as party speakers or to build a home theater. You can consider the Reference Premiere line up to deliver ‘premiere’ sound quality. When paired with a subwoofer, the system can shake your room.

Connect the speaker with an amplifier and then use the amplifier connection ports to pair other sources like TV, turntable, CD player, Blu-ray player, etc.

Use case:

The manufacturer claims it can easy fill up large spaces. So, Klipsch RP-280F is ideal for mid- to large sized spaces that measures 100-400 sq. ft. They are large speakers so make sure your room has enough space for tower speakers and an amplifier. Speaker placement follows the basic rule of other floorstanding speakers.

While using them as front mains, place them 6-15ft apart. Keep a gap of 1 to 1.5 times distance of the speaker gap between speaker and user. Also leave a gap of few inches from the wall. You are free to use them as rear speakers in your home theater system.

Compatible device:

Klipsch RP-280F can be a part of home theater system. Connect center channel speakers (Klipsch RP-440C/RP-450C), surround speakers (Klipsch RP-240S/RP-250S) and subwoofers (Klipsch R-112SW/R-115SW).

Match the specs to choose the right amplifier for the speaker pair. Harman Kardon 3737, Marantz SR7009, Onkyo TXNR646, Denon AVRX2200W, NAD D3020 are some of the suggested amps to use with RP-280F.

Ease of use:

This floorstanding speaker connects to an amp and then you can control it. Usually control options are simple and straightforward.

A pair of Klipsch RP-280F is within under $700. The cost is reasonable for floorstanding speaker.
