Details Review

Jamo Studio 807 floorstanding speakers are available in three color options. They blend in well with any modern room décor. It comes with linen magnetic grilles to protect the drivers. The grilles are made of heavy material which fits quite well. If you include a Dolby Atmos speaker on top, the grille from the speaker will slide up and cover the Atmos speaker. This creates a seamless and clean look.

The speaker cabinet is made of MDF with a minimalist front baffle design. It does not attract fingerprints and has good WAF. It uses bracing and ensures the resonance is minimized. The speaker sits on flat steel feet made of rubber and metal.

Jamo Studio Series S 807 speakers have 1” tweeter and two 5” woofer drivers. The soft dome material used in tweeter delivers rich and smooth highs. With Aluminized polyfibre woofer, the lows are balanced and accurate. It has front-firing tube port for enhanced bass while ensuring the speakers will be easy to place. The speaker can produce lifelike sound that is close to the original content. It uses WaveGuide technology to improve the treble region with better dynamics.

With the inclusion of the S 8 Atmos speaker, you will experience cinematic sound with powerful overhead effects. The speaker can play music and movies quite well. They produce powerful stereo sound in a 2.0 setup. In large setups like a 5.1, the speakers can produce impressive surround sound. The speakers produce undistorted sound as you increase the volume.

While the bass is good, you might miss the adequate oomph in movies if you are a bass head. Since these are passive speakers, you have the option to include a subwoofer. Lastly, make sure to take into account the room acoustics that might affect the sound performance.

Speaker placement:

Place the speakers on the front wall with a distance of 6’ between them. The distance between speakers and, speaker and user should be equal. Since the speakers have bass port on the front side, they are not placement sensitive. This means you can place them closer to walls without any issue. If you are using them as rear setup, place them beside the user or behind them with an angle of 20 angle.

The back panel of Jamo S 807 shows a pair of binding posts. It has ‘Main’ terminal that will connect to the front speaker output of the receiver. The ‘Height’ terminal will connect to the height output.

Compatible device:

Connect a matching amplifier or receiver with the Jamo S 807 speakers like the Denon AVR-S750, S.M.S.L. A300, yamaha R-s202 amplifier, Denon AVR-X1800H, Denon AVR-S760H. The top of the speaker has metal fasteners where you can connect an Atmos speaker like the S 8 ATM speaker from Jamos. This method eliminates additional wires giving the room a clean look.

For a complete home theater, connect the following speakers with the Jamo S 807 speakers:  floorstanding loudspeakers (S805/S809), bookshelf loudspeakers (S801/S803), center channel speakers (S81C/S83C), and Dolby Atmos elevation speaker (S8ATM). For powerful bass, connect Jamo S808SW or S810SW subwoofer.

Use case:

The S 807 floorstanding speakers can be used as front or rear speakers in a home theater system. They are good for medium sized rooms. We listened to music, movies and TV shows without any issue.

Jamo S 807 floorstanding speakers are available under $300. However, the cost will increase if you connect a receiver/amplifier and a subwoofer.

Where should I place the subwoofer with Jamo S 807 speakers?

Place the subwoofer beside the floorstanding speakers on the front wall. You can also place them on side walls. For accurate subwoofer placement, use the subwoofer crawl technique. Here one person needs to crawl or bend over to listen to the music while the other person should move the subwoofer to find the best spot.

Are floorstanding speakers better than bookshelf speakers?

Floorstanding speakers are powerful than bookshelf speakers. They are known to deliver more powerful and impactful sound compared to bookshelf speakers. This is due to larger cabinet size.
