Home theater buffs who want for rich sound and cutting-edge visual capabilities will find ideal fit in the Denon AVR-X6700H. This 11.2-channel receiver will provide a strong, surround sound experience whether your living room is medium to large-sized or you have a dedicated home theater room. For consumers seeking multi-room audio choices in addition to the newest technologies like Dolby Atmos, DTS, and 8K upscaling, The AVR-X6700H has enough capabilities and power to suit the most demanding settings without needing too complicated operation, whether your interests are in premium movies, gaming, or furious music listening.
Our Verdict
With 8K compatibility and immersive surround sound, the Denon AVR-X6700H delivers top-notional sound and video quality that shines. Larger spaces fit it well, allowing you to enjoy theater-like home entertainment. On the negative side, it is heavy, difficult to put up, and costly. The performance merits the expenditure for dedicated home theater enthusiasts; for casual users or those with smaller areas, it may be overkill. Though you should be ready to commit to its features and size, the advantages far exceed the drawbacks.

Design
From the moment you unbox the Denon AVR-X6700H, you notice its size. It's heavy, and its weight may surprise you if you're not used to bigger A/V receivers. It looks classic black, clean yet understated. If you wish to avoid using the remote, the front panel is simple with a big display in the center that is easy to see from across the room and a few buttons. Actually, most of the time you will most likely utilize the remote or an app.
Denon's careful consideration of the arrangement makes the design really excellent. Every connector and button seems to have a function. Though it's well-ordered, the rear panel becomes crowded with all the connectors. When you're behind the receiver trying to find out where everything goes, each input is clearly labeled—a blessing. One drawback, however, is that the size might be problematic in a limited space situation. You cannot just shove this into any ordinary media cabinet. Good ventilation is also important because, when all channels are used, it runs heated.
Connectivity
Here the Denon AVR-X6700H really excels. Running a game console, streaming device, Blu-ray player, or all of the above covers you with 8 HDMI inputs and 3 outputs. If you love 4K video, this receiver is designed for it and supports 4K/120Hz passthrough—great if you have a next-generation gaming console. Though it could be a few years before most people need it, the fact that it's future-proofed with 8K compatibility is a pleasant bonus.
With his PS5, a buddy of mine put this up and remarked right away on the improvement in smoothness and quality with 4K/120Hz. Even in sports, the movement seemed clean without the occasional lag seen with older receivers.
From the wireless standpoint, it has all the conveniences—Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, and HEOS. You can therefore stream music straight from almost any device, and if you have a multi-room audio system with additional HEOS-enabled speakers, everything syncs up perfectly. A few customers have noted as one drawback sporadic Bluetooth dropouts. Though it doesn't happen much, when it does it's annoying, particularly if you're in the midst of a playlist. Although the system's control app is good, it sometimes runs into bugs. Sometimes it just freezes and calls for a restart.
Performance
Here here is where the AVR-X6700H exercises its muscles. There is much versatility available from the 11.2 channels. You will appreciate this if you like immersive audio systems including Dolby Atmos and DTS. One of my friends utilizes this in his home theater configuration; seeing films like Mad Max: Fury Road or Avengers: Endgame is rather different. You hear sounds all around you, whether they are the boom of an engine or the soft footsteps of a criminal sneaking up.
Regarding music, the sound is deep and harmonic. This receiver's quality coupled with a set of Klipsch speakers was amazing. Highs are sharp without being piercing; mids come through clearly; and, when required, the bass strikes powerfully but without overwhelming effect. For room calibration—which modulates the sound to fit the acoustics of your environment—this receiver also has Audyssey MultEQ XT32. Many individuals swear by it, claiming it changed their nights and days after they performed the calibration. It's not perfect, however. One user said he had to manually adjust the settings to get the sound exactly right as using Audyssey produced nearly non-existent bass. Thus, even if it's a useful tool, not everyone would find it ideal straight out of the box.
The drawback is that Possession of Power Sure, it's strong at 140W per channel, but if you're running a full 11.2 setup and you're in a big room, you could feel as like it could use just a little more energy. This device is a monster in smaller to medium-sized spaces, however; it readily consumes the area with sound.
Where and When to Use
A dedicated home theater configuration would find the AVR-X6700H perfect. Particularly if you want high-quality, immersive sound, it has all the capabilities for a dedicated movie or music fan. For a tiny flat or someone just seeking for laid-back background music while cooking, it is overkill however. This is where it shines if you have a medium-to- big space and you are very into movies.
One customer said it matched his mid-sized living space exactly. Another individual tried arranging this in a smaller, closed-off area, but it simply seemed like too much. Unless you have the area to let it breathe, the power this creature generates might seem like overkill.
Compatible Devices
This receiver performs admisably among others. You can toss almost any gadget—from Blu-ray players to game consoles—at it and it will function. Gamers love it because of the 4K/120Hz passsthrough. People have reported how much better Call of Duty looks and feels with this configuration. Your 4K movies will look amazing on the correct TV especially as it has complete support for HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG.
Additionally integrating with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri is the Denon AVR-X6700H. Without touching a finger, I have switched inputs, changed level, and even started playing music using voice commands. Though it's hardly a life-changing ability, you soon become accustomed to this little convenience.
Bluetooth once again is the drawback. Although streaming is fantastic, a few customers have complained about connection problems. Most of the time it performs well; however, when it does not, it may be difficult to get it back on track.
Ease of Use
If you are not accustomed to A/V receivers, setting up the AVR-X6700H might seem difficult. There are many cables to link, and even if the handbook is thorough, for someone who is not tech-savvy it may appear excessive. One customer said that while it took them a solid two hours to get everything hooked up and operating, daily usage is considerably simpler once everything is set up.
Though not enough to write about, the remote is nice. As I said before, the app works but it may have problems. Fortunately, once the receiver is running, she is rather naturally perceptive. The on-screen menus are straightforward to use and switching between inputs flows naturally.
Cost
Let's not waste time debating the costly AVR-X6700H. This receiver is worth every dollar if you can afford it and take home entertainment seriously. This is overkill, however, for casual listeners or someone only wanting to see Netflix with reasonable sound. A few forum members have claimed that by using this approach, they were "future-proofing" their arrangement and that is a reasonable argument. Although it has years of worth of functionality, only if you intend to use them will they be loaded.
